Re: Hot Chocolate Anyone ?
@Anna88 my son is doing mechanical engineering, hoping to specialise in aeronautical engineering and then go work for locheed martin (spelling??) in the USA I always told my kids I expect them to spread their wings and move away from the town they grew up in (like we've moved all over Australia) - I just didn't expect a move that far!!!
My husband will be happy, he has always wanted to move to the USA. LOL when we visited NASA on a trip Mr YTT told our son that he has to work there - no pressure though lol

Re: Hot Chocolate Anyone ?
@YTT, I was the first in my family to go to uni. I loved the independance of it. I didn't finish the degree because although I was enjoying it, I realised it was going to lead on to a desk job. So not me! I later did a ceramics diploma instead. Creative, scientific and muddy all rolled in together- suits me much better!

Re: Hot Chocolate Anyone ?
My first degree (diploma mechanical engineering) was my dads dream, he didn't want his children working as hard as he had to, lol I still ended up in a job that almost killed me from stress working 60+ hours / week chasing impossible deadlines.
Only ever worked full time for the one company, First 10 years was rewarding, last 5 were all down hill.
This degree has been in many respects much easier due to different motivation and priorities, add life experience giving context and greater understanding and in other areas so much harder due to responsibilities of looking after a family.
Uni also seems to be so much more supportive now also. I could not achieve what I have without the support I have received.

Re: Hot Chocolate Anyone ?
oh @Determined I'm scared now!!! my husband wanted our son to go computer route at school, he thinks there are more oppotunities for them! (Okay and work for NASA lol). Plus he didn't want to go to the uni he selected as he will have to drive one of the most dangerous roads in NSW !!!!
I just want our son to be happy. I asked him if he didn't get the ATAR he needed if there was a backup. Our son replied 'there is no backup, engineering is the only thing I want to do'. Oh my lordy he got in within a whisker.... but he got in 🙂

Engineering is a very rewarding field. Just not my cup of tea anymore unfortunately.

Re: Hot Chocolate Anyone ?
A friend is coming over to take our rooster tonight, not a moment too soon for Mrs Brown chook, the prime recipient of his attention and who I am sure is well over his amorous ways...
