Good morning everybody,
Welcome to Monday.
@Former-Member oooh I'm super excited to hear you did some upside-down stuff in your yoga class the other day. What upside down stuff did you do? I am getting much better at standing on my forearms. I reckon soon I'll be able to do it as easily as standing on my head.
@Adge I'm sorry to hear the past week or so has been so difficult for you. I am having a super tricky time at the moment too, and like you, I have been a bit slack with my yoga-ing. This really makes no sense because I know that when I feel super icky, that's the very BEST time to be yoga-ing! I did some this morning and I feel better for it. We will have to work super hard at cheering each other on to do some yoga-ing when the last thing we feel like doing is yoga-ing @Adge.
@Former-Member Giggle. You mentioned that you'll get your dolphin on over the lunch break. I'm trying to decide whether this was a typo, and you meant to say you will get your dolphin DONE, or whether you truly are planning to get a dolphin on...in which case I guess you would look like this...and that would be completely ok...even if you are planning to head out to buy lunch somewhere.
I super like being a dolphin. I am still being a dolphin a lot because it is the starting position for then bouncing up into the forearm stand.
So, this week, I thought we might have a go at the Supine Twist that @Former-Member mentioned the other day. This is another pose that super helps with sore backs. Here is how to do a Supine Twist: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=elI403TmzZY
Does anyone around here NOT have issues with back pain? I'm thinking that we are perhaps on our way to developing a whole yoga workout especially to help with sore backs - which super works well for me. How does this plan sound to everyone else?
Happy yoga-ing.

Oh I wish I owned a costume like that and could literally put a dolphin suit on and walk down the street! I meant it as a figure of speech though.

Yep @Phoenix_Rising, I'm definitely into this week's pose, the supine twist. So now I've got to somehow add this to the Dolphin and the Thread the Needle in my morning routine. Mmmm, is there any way of combining all three in order to save time? I could really get myself into a tangle.
Hi to all you other Yogi's. @Former-Member @Former-Member @Adge @Former-Member

Hope you have all been enjoying your yoga-ing.
I am missing it hugely. Fortunately, the yoga studio have put my membership on hold whilst I undergo my shoulder surgery tomorrow and subsequent recovery.
Might be quite some time before I can downward dog again 😞

Yes you are right @Phoenix_Rising Just when we don't feel like yoga-ing, or are stressed etc - it's the best time to be doing it.
All my joints (back, arms, fingers. legs, neck) have been aching & sore for over a week. I have no idea why.
It's not from lack of yoga-ing, because I've still been doing my 2 yoga classes every week. Something's not right.
Maybe I need to do even more yoga-ing...
Yes I miss your yoga input @soul

Hi @Former-Member The supine twist should be a good one, I think.
Gee, combining several poses at once to save time sounds like an ingenious idea. I think I would probably tangle myself up though...

Good morning everybody,
I did a Supine Twist yesterday, did you? I've actually also done one this morning too. Sleep evaded me last night so I was up yoga-ing at around 2:30am.
I went to my yoga class last night and felt so much better for doing so. We did the Supine Twist there. Do you want to know what else we did? TURTLE POSE!!!!! It's only the second time we've done it in class. I think when I have my next private lesson I'm going to ask my teacher to help me perfect it a bit.
@Former-Member well that's disappointing to hear you weren't wandering around the streets of Melbourne in a dolphin suit yesterday. Yeah...identifying figures of speech is not exactly one of my strengths.
@Former-Member I laughed a lot at your idea of combining yoga poses to save time. Perhaps I should clarify that our pose of the week changes each week. It isn't a cumulative thing, we just have one pose each week. My thinking is that if we keep it at something that takes 2-3 minutes, then we really shouldn't have any excuse not to do it (unless you happen to be @soul who is about to have shoulder surgery - all the best for today soul!). Having said that, I very rarely just do the pose of the week. I find that once I get started, then I can keep yoga-ing for ages. It's the getting started bit that I get stuck on sometimes.
@Adge I am super glad I have you and everyone else to help me get motivated with yoga-ing! Do you think you'll visit the doctor regarding your acheyness? I have more issues with acheyness than I feel I should have at 40 years old, but I know it's because I spend far too much time in front of the computer.
Well I hope everyone has a super day and manages to fit a Supine Twist in there somewhere.
Happy yoga-ing.

Thanks @Phoenix_Rising Yes maybe I should get checked out for the aching joints.
I get frequent back pain due to scoliosis, but nothing this wide-spread. I've had back pain since my 20's, & I'm hitting 50 soon...
All the best with your surgery @soul

Yeah exercise including yoga and pilates is usually amazing for my back pain. It's notreally been effective the past few weeks, I must have a lot of stress right now. Very sore back. This is where supine twist is going to come into it. I've already started (but a seated version, can't really get down to lie on the floor in here )
