Re: The great yoga adventure

Good morning all, Smiley Happy

I have already done a supine twist this morning. I was up at an absurd hour so was yoga-ing around 4am. Yoga-ing definitely super helps me both with my sore back and with my big feelings.

@Former-Member I see no reason why you couldn't lie on the floor of the SANE office to do some yoga-ing. Really, that just shows a lack of commitment. Smiley LOL

@Adge back pain super sucks. I too have had issues with my back since my 20's. I find it super distracting when I am sitting at the computer. I hope the doctor might have some ideas about your other acheyness.

Hello @Phoenix_Rising

I did a twist this morning whilst attempting all our other poses around 6am outside under a tree.  It was such a great way to start the day and help to losen my back.  I am still a bit sore though so I think I might need to have another go later tonight.  Thank you for all the directions.

Take care, MummaMia

@Former-Member Did the tree join in? How did it go at doing tree pose? Smiley Very Happy

Re: The great yoga adventure

Good morning everybody,

I am still in an amazingly dark space and super struggling. But that's ok - I figure that's as good a time as any to be doing some yoga-ing. Smiley Happy

I thought we might try this pose this week, partly because it looks like it would be good for sore backs, and partly because it has the coolest name ever - Half Lord of the Fishes. Hey @CheerBear, when your little fish are running (swimming?) riot around the house, do you feel like you are only half lord of the fishes??? Smiley LOL

Here is how to be half a lord of the fishes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AKSuNdqzwYI

I am definitely going to be half a lord of the fishes this week. I super hope you will join me: @TheVorticon @Shaz51 @Ant7 @Adge @Former-Member @Anony18 @Former-Member @Former-Member @Former-Member @frog @Former-Member @Former-Member @Former-Member @Former-Member @Former-Member @Former-Member @Former-Member @Former-Member

And a shout-out to any new people in Forum Land who might want to do some yoga-ing: @barely @Calyoperose @Nat1 @Catcakes @Fee1 @Demi2017

Happy yoga-ing. Smiley Happy

Re: The great yoga adventure

OOps @Phoenix_Rising, I just tried this pose from 'cold', ie no warm up stretches.  Couldnt do it unfortunately, and ouch!  I will do some other warm up stretches before I give it another go later I think. If I still cant do it, then I may have to adapt it a little.  Admittedly I am having some problems with my back at present and getting some nerve pain, so that probably hasnt helped in my endeavours in getting myself all twisted into a warped bow.  Woman LOL  But I think this new pose, once I can do it, may help in the longer term.  I'm hoping so anyway.

Happy yoga'ing everyone. @Former-Member @Former-Member @Former-Member @Former-Member and anone else prepared to give this yoga thing a go.

Sherry

Re: The great yoga adventure

Hi @Phoenix_Rising and all the other yogis! Smiley Very Happy

I know I have been so slack with my yoga-ing over the last few weeks, but I really think I might need to get back into it - especially, given the back pain I am experiencing after a hike I went on yesterday. But alas, this was the journey I needed to travel if I wished to see one of nature's beauties (i.e., a waterfall). Thankfully, the waterfall was well worth it!

So I will definitely be doing the Half Lord of the Fishes, today! Smiley Very Happy

Re: The great yoga adventure

Sorry I haven't been contributing as much to our wonderful virtual yoga class, over the last few weeks.

I still find it inspiring, especially our having such an enthusiastic yoga Guru (yogi) egging us on - which is @Phoenix_Rising of course...

I'll always be hooray-ing (yee ha etc) from the background, even when I'm not writing much...

Yes I'm sure that the Half Lord of the Fishes would be very good for my frequent back pain...

We do a fish pose in my yoga classes, but I don't think that this one is quite the same (I shall have to look it up).

Re: The great yoga adventure

Oh, now I recognise this pose.

We have actually been doing it every class (2 times per week), for the last few weeks...

It's just that I didn't realise it straight away (I thought it was something different).

They just call it a Twist in my classes, I'm not sure where the fish bit comes in...

The fish pose that we do is different (it's lying down)...

So I've already been doing this Twist pose (Half Lord of the Fish) regularly, without even knowing it...
