I only managed to do that half lord of the fishies (twist) once or twice, I'm sorry to say.
Getting to my 2 yoga classes each week, has been quite an effort recently, but I'm still going (& it still helps).
I feel lost, sad, inflexible, & rather stiff & sore - when I occasionally have to miss a yoga class.
I've got my thinking hat on, trying to think of yoga poses to suggest...
The tricky thing is that we've done most of them already here.

Good morning everybody,
I know, I know, I'm a day late. Oh well, that just means we will all have to do this week's pose twice today to make up for yesterday.
It sounds like we were all a bit slack at being a lord of the fishes last week. Good thing every day is a new day and if we miss a day, we can just try again the next day.
Since we were lords of the fishes last week, I thought we might like to be fish this week. Here is how to be a fish: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AXDIwA-RDL4
I super hope you will join me in being a fish.
Happy yoga-ing.

Hi @Phoenix_Rising. Oh dear ... being a fish is not for me. Just watched the video and that was enough. Being a Fish is not a good one for my back. I will stick with watching the video and sit this one out for the week. I will stick with Lords of the Fishes for an additional week. You asked on another thread about meditation. Like you, I am not really into it and often leave my yoga class before the final 5 minute meditation phase. When I am highly anxious or triggered, meditation really gets to me and I just cannot handle it. So my meditation skills are non-existant. Which is why I suggested it to you, looking for tips. As you say, perhaps @Adge may be able to give us yoga-ites some tips if they are willing?
Good luck all you devoted fish. And thanks @Phoenix_Rising.

@Former-Member: We did this pose quite a few weeks ago. Here it is again especially for you. Now you have no excuse for not yoga-ing this week.
From what you just wrote, I'm guessing this might be what you mean about the meditative part of yoga??? I like doing this sort of thing. I went to one yoga class that was about 40 minutes of yoga and then a 20 minute meditation thing. That didn't work well for me. However, I find Savasana helpful. I wonder if it will work better for you in the privacy of your own home than in a class setting? My understanding is that meditation is very much something that we have to super practice. If we practice a lot when we are feeling ok, then we get better at doing it when we feel not so ok. I'm pretty sure it is a lifelong learning process and thus it is a bazillion percent ok that we can't do it brilliantly all the time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mc-38vuwE1Y

Yes @Phoenix_Rising thats the one we often do after our Yoga classes.
Unfortunately I am reluctant to really get into it at gym class. The first time I did the class and had this relaxation thing for the final 5 mins, I blubbered the whole time. I find it really draws the emotions out. Talk about embarrassing! Just couldnt stop the tears from falling. Since then, if ever I am feeling a little vulnerable or down, I get up and leave before the relaxation bit.
But you are right, in the privacy of home, it will be much better. Nobody to see the tears or hear the sobbing, and no explanations necessary. I just need to shake this nasty headache of mine this morning and I will go do my 5-min Savasana in a corpse Pose. Being a fish will have to wait.
Thanks @Phoenix_Rising for providing an alternative for the week. So does this mean that your yoga classes are Tuesdays now rather than Mondays?

Hi @Former-Member,
I will be super interested to hear how you go doing Savasana at home. I strongly believe in the value of "better out than in" when it comes to big feelings and I know that letting them out is MUCH easier to navigate in private compared to in a class. I haven't become tearful in a yoga class yet, but I have started shaking a lot during Savasana a couple of times. It doesn't scare me because I know it is just my body's way of processing trauma. I read that this reaction to trauma is like the way a dog will often super shake during a storm, and then when the storm is over, they will just move on without any apparent after-effects. It seems that this is a perfectly normal response to extreme stress, but for whatever reason, in our society we are discouraged from expressing big feelings in such natural ways and that's why the big feelings end up scrambling our brains. I definitely value letting big feelings out in safe ways.
I "should" have gone to my yoga class last night but I didn't make it. However, my teacher also does a class on Wednesdays so I'm aiming to go tomorrow evening.

Good morning everybody,
Well, I think our pose-of-the-week adventure has reached the end of its natural life. We kept going for about six months - I think that is super impressive.
I am still very much yoga-ing. I am super excited at how much I've improved at standing on my forearms. I just can't quite get up without touching the wall with my big toe to get my balance. I can't wait until I can do it as easily as standing on my head!
I thought that to bring this chapter of our yoga-ing adventure to a close, it would be cool to go back to where we started. Let's do tree pose. We can be Christmas trees!!!! Here is how to be a tree: https://www.doyogawithme.com/content/tree-pose
I fully intend to keep checking in here to chat about my yoga-ing adventures. I super hope you will too.
Happy yoga-ing!
