Being able to stand up for yourself or people you care about can be really important in many areas of life. Assertiveness is a skill that can be developed and practiced by anyone. It all starts with ‘I’

The event start times across Australia are below:

For anyone unfamiliar with Peer Group Chats, each focuses on a specific topic and is guided by Peer Workers with lived experience of mental health issues and recovery, &/or caring for someone with complex mental health. A counsellor is also present as a moderator to help ensure a safe environment for individuals and the group. It is a space for us as peers to share our stories and experiences, and connect with those who are going through something similar.

Responding  to  /  importance of I.            Anaesthetist popped into my room the other day.  Strange thing he said.  As you were slipping under,

more than a single voice came from your lips.

My glass eye looking back at me

I ask of it what does it see

Laughs and screams from empty socket

You fear my cage..      Make sure you lock it.

Do people fear difference,    or the parts of themselves they see in that difference.

Hi @amber22   @Appleblossom    @TAB    @Shaz51  @StuF n    all

Hope all are well and warm,                                                            tonys mb   1

Hey @tonys

"Puzzled" sums up my response to your post so far- do you mean you said that poem as you were going under??

But anyway, well and warm enough thanks.

Re: Peer Group Chat // The Importance of ‘I’ // Thursday 22nd June 2023, 7-8:30PM AEST

@tonys Once I felt an old foster father's voice rise up in me.  I felt strange to hear that rough sounding voice come from my mouth ... after 40 years ... it was not the way I usually speak ... maybe it was a few different memories making themselves manifest ...

Does that make sense @StuF I feel the poem is @tonys response ... idk ...??? just wondering...

Re: Peer Group Chat // The Importance of ‘I’ // Thursday 22nd June 2023, 7-8:30PM AEST

Oh that makes sense @Appleblossom  - and I guess that is mostly my interpretation. Just wanted to make sure 🙂

I like the poem regardless though!

...bits of previous Tonys having a say @tonys  or maybe even the Original, core one, the King of the hive....

you could be the 5th Doctor and the other voice was the Master ....

Hello  @StuF   puzzled is great.  A mix of questioning thoughts.  You challenge rather than just move through.

We are all so different.   Am I the sum total of all I have seen.  Do those things that sit within find refuge as different entities inside of us.   Is life a struggle between those within,  a struggle for dominance of

the soul.    In sleep,   death, intoxication, and dreams,  when we are at our weakest  the ghost do battle.

For me, I seem to find my greatest peace when all are allowed to breathe.      Any   Suppression, and I'll

bleed out from the clash of sword upon sword.    I live,  making room for more than me within me.

Perhaps multiple personality is just temporary accommodation till we find a way for a peaceful eviction and who evicts who..?

@StuF  @Appleblossom  @TAB   @amber22   @Shaz51

Thankyou for reading and your thoughts.
