Re: Not sure what to do !!!

Hi @Shaz51

It's taking me time to get back to my routines - I think that will be easier when spring finally gets here and the weather improves - we had a lovely day in Melbourne yesterday but it's chilly and bitey here today

I hope you got over that fall you had - and whatever else is happening - you seem to be in a constant tug-of-war - this is not an easy role to take in life

About moving in with your Mum or having her move in with you - this has to be a hard decision because whatever you do Mr Shaz will be anxious and want to go to bed I am sure. You still have your kidney transplant though I believe people recover very quickly when they are the recipient - I have lost track of that part of your story though

I did have a thought that you could keep both households running so Mr Shaz has his own space and you can spend some time with your Mum and help out with her needs. I do understand how your Mum wants her independence and this does cause conflict with your aunty and your cousin who want to be in the picture too - this is not easy - more tug-of-war

How much time to you have before you make a decision? I think I heard that your Mum's wound was improvingk - I think it was her arm. I hope this is still getting better

After a week in hospital myself I know I would rather be in my own home - I came home when I planned it with my specialist but I know I still really needed to be in hospital but I do like my independence and I think I was better at home alone even though it was hard to manage

I am okay now though and still care a lot about my Shaz who has so much on her plate - You are a battler

Hello lovely @Shaz51

Having slept on it have you made a decision, been thinking of you x

Re: Not sure what to do !!!

Hi @Anastasia ... my apologies ... I missed responding to your post yesterday, which you wrote while having toast and a cuppa soup.  😊

I think everyone here has been through a heck of a lot, and its really not about comparing ourselves to anyone.  We each have our own unique story to tell, but we are all so similar in the thoughts, feelings and distress which we all deal with.

I hope you caught up with as much work yesterday as you needed to?  I expect work would be a good thing for you, in that it provides a mental escape from your everyday concerns around your boy.  What sort of work do you do, if you are happy to share?  I worked up until around 2 years ago, which is when hubby became very ill, and I had to give up at that point.  I still miss working, because it used to provide an escape from home and interaction with other people.  Plus it kept the old grey matter active!  I am 61yo by the way, I think much older than you.  To try to give me some connections outside the home, I had been doing volunteer work in a nursing home. Only for half a day a week, but it worked out well for me.  But that all ceased with the arrival of CoronaVirus in March.  At this stage there is no knowing when visitors will be permitted back to the homes.

How did your boy go with the support worker yesterday, and has he been safely delivered to the hospital today?  I really hope a good outcome is achieved this time, for both of you.

Yesterday was overcast, cold and wet.  Then around 4pm we had a heavy downpour of rain, the wind sprang up to gale force, and we had a power outage.  As soon as that happened the wind and rain settled down and all was calm.  So it was candlelight and torches until the power came back on at 6pm.  Apparently trees came down over powerlines out the road.  We live in a rural area, so lots of trees.  When I rang the power company to get an idea of how long we'd be out for ... the answer was 'unknown'.  But it did tell me that there were 83 households without power.  A couple of years ago we were totally without power for 5 days after a massive wind storm.  It was awful, only a few days before Christmas, and food rotting in the fridge and the freezer defrosting quickly. But nothing you can do.  Being in the country, and only affecting a relatively few households, they dont seem to be in any rush to get things back up and running.  Then of course there were the bushfires around here in November ... no mobile phone coverage and no wifi.  Grrrrr ....

@Shaz51 How are you going beautiful?  Have you made any headway with a decision as to where is the best place to live re your Mum's care?  What does Mr Shaz and your Auntie think about it all?  And also ... how is your own health right now?  I expect you may still be sore after the recent fall you had last week.  Sending love and hugs.

Re: Not sure what to do !!!

Hello @Emelia8

How was your day lovely? I hope you got some time for yourself?

Yes, I am grateful for my job and I do love it, although my role has somewhat changed with Covid. I usually do marketing, events, travel as well as manage the facility that I work at. So now that tere are no events or travel I am helping out the cutomer service girls which means learning a new software program. Not a biggie but atm my headspace is almost empty when it comes to absorbing information so it is a bit stressful. I keep reminding myself I am one of the lucky ones with a job and just to push thrugh. My boss is an absolute champion and lets me work from home as he is aware of my situation.

No way are you 61! You have such a young "screen presence" - no wonder you are so beautiful and caring. I can totally see why you would have volunteered in a nursing home, they would have loved you! Hopefully one day you can return to do some volunteer work perhaps?

I am 50 next Birthday, *sigh.

Oh my goodness, do you have power back yet? Wind is horrid especially when it howls. I do believe it effects our headspace. I know when children play in the wind they usually come in in a tizz if that makes sense. Your area sounds lovely with the exception of Mother Nature, fires etc.

Thanks for your message, it is always lovely to hear from you 🙂
