On Thursday 25th January 2023, we will be holding a Peer Group Chat on the topic of Our Values Compass.
Values can act as an inner compass to help us navigate situations and drive us in certain directions. Let’s come together to explore what our own values are, and how they might guide us in our lives.
The event start times across Australia are below:
This is currently held in daylight savings hours:
WA: 4pm
NT: 5:30pm
SA: 6:30pm
QLD: 6pm
NSW, ACT, VIC & TAS: 7pm
For anyone unfamiliar with Peer Group Chats, each focuses on a specific topic and is guided by Peer Workers with lived experience of mental health issues and recovery, &/or caring for someone with complex mental health. A counsellor is also present as a moderator to help ensure a safe environment for individuals and the group. It is a space for us as peers to share our stories and experiences, and connect with those who are going through something similar.
Anyone is welcome to join! Tagging some members who may be interested below: @Snowie @scruffypuffball @7cough9 @Glisten @Blackbird11 @Shaz51 @Fiefke @Patches59 @Appleblossom @Meggle @Jacques @deshift @Captain24 @Cali_Rose

Hi Everyone,
in reflecting on values, I realised that for myself, a lot of the values hold, especially those which feel most important to me, are also things that seemed to describe me as a person. has anyone found similar, that your values tend to also describe who you are as a person? How so? I'd be really curious to hear from anyone who would like to share!

Also in case it helps reflecting on it for yourself, I wanted to share this resource which goes through a few prompts to help identify values 😊.

Yes, I agree @TideisTurning our values are who we are as a person ideally but there are times when they either don't fit the situation, or we are not able to live by them perhaps due to how other people treat us. When we lose control or have limited choices in our lives and can't do the things we want or need we can still hold on to our values, but they also might need to be reframed if we can't. Values can be fluid to suit our lives and the moment we are in sometimes or we have many that might relate to different situations.
Just my thoughts about values!!
Take care,
RiverSeal

TBH, I'm not sure I understand the question @TideisTurning . I would've thought it would go without saying that a person's values are the primary factors in defining who they are. People gravitate towards doing what they considder is "right", and are naturally averse to doing what they considder "wrong".
